SOPA returns next month

January 17th, 2012 at 8:56pm | 1 Comment

Many of us have heard the news today, publicized by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is returning to the tables next month, with the potential to be reintroduced in it’s original state. The scariest part is that Chairman Smith states they will continue to push this bill with Industry Representatives and Members while saying nothing about consumers.

The Pirate Party of Canada has fought and will continue to fight against this bill by disseminating facts and updates in regards to the bill. Pro-Internet group OpenMedia has also come out against SOPA, and has started a petition to send to Prime Minister Harper and Canada’s Ambassador to the United States.
