Can we have the image below made? I like the dark background, but the all white makes it boring (for me). I like the mixture of red and white
The plain white on black (and its reverse), are meant more for use in older style newspapers and publications still dealing with 2-colour (b&w) printing and placement methods. It makes it clearer and easier for the paper to print, and doesn't require them to do extra work to make a logo printable. As boring as it is, it's a requirement for an older placement and printing style that a lot of smaller and independant papers still require.
The standard (grey, red & white) logo at the top of the page is meant for the usual web work, full colour printing, etc.
Yeah, I'm not on a style committee or anything like that, but I've had to get things printed in a few newspapers and had to go through this with them too. It's the rational for it, and the reason why all major political parties have a version of their logo in the 2-tone b&W. It's clearer and easier to print from a B&W version than it is to convert it (which creates grey areas and obscures portions)
