Reading a post in here, I realized there is a perfect opportunity for a video ad that spoofs the old "you wouldn't steal a car" clip that plays on a bunch of DVDs and VHS tapes. The basic idea is flipping it around from theft to restrictions.

Clips could show how you wouldn't restrict:
A meal, not allowing a customer to take their food out of the building
A highway, only allowing certain manufactured cars
A classroom - "Sorry Timmy, I told you, you're only allowed to use No. 2 pencils!"

There are also some decent clips for an "or would you?" moment, like:
A book, not letting you read out loud, or lend it to a friend, playing on the Kindle
An iPod, with someone being arrested for theirs being jailbroken

The options of short clips to go through after that are quite large, like:
A some highlighted EULA passages. Anyone who has read enough EULAs knows what I mean.
A screen saying something like "This DVD cannot be played in your region."
An installation screen with "You have reached your activation limit. Please purchase a new license."
Something showing that you can't copy DRM'd music to certain players or certain places

Followed by a political message like "Bill C-32 makes it illegal to break digital restrictions. Find out more at [URL]." and "This message brought to you by the Pirate Party of Canada."

I don't have the technical skill or enough ideas to undertake a project like this, but it's open if someone wants to take it on. It would be a great way to get the issue across and have more people view the party as combating real issues, rather than just wanting free stuff.

You wouldn't restrict people from talking about subjects other than shopping...
