I think Sean has it right. I'm betting a good deal of us are joining the party because we feel betrayed by the products of the existing system bending to corporate will, rather than the will of the people.

There is nothing wrong with using a bit of tasteful satire, in fact if used correctly, it could very well be used to reach out to a much broader audience. Many individuals don't bother with learning both sides of the stories. Often times many are content with the spam that is forced down their throats by the news conglomerates and their benefactors.
If anything satire in the form of educated humour, much like the "ordering pizza in 2015" does an amazing example of how to reach out in a comical way, but yet retaining a sense of dignity. How many people watched that and cringed knowing just how close to the truth it really is?

Wow that is pretty freaky. A glimpse into how 1984 would play out in the real world with nanny-state liberals and control freak conservatives running the show.
