There seems to be something screwed up on the server in regard to SSL connections. I havent been able to connect except for dropping SSL options.

Are you using irc.pirateparty.ca and have updated your Root SSL certificates ?
We moved from a self-signed cert to a Startcom SSL

I am using X-Chat and this is the error I got...
Connection failed. Error: certificate not trusted.? (27)

I use Xchat too w/o problems. It doesn't even ask me to validate the cert

Seems to be an issue with Ubuntu 8.04, upgrading to 10.04 fixed it.
